New Training Centre To Cater For The Shortfall Of Labour

BMS Services is proud to announce the opening of a new training centre, the first of its kind, aimed at addressing the shortage of skilled labour in the busbar installation niche market. With the construction industry booming since the COVID-19 pandemic, the demand for skilled workers has never been higher. BMS Services is stepping in to bridge the gap and provide a new generation of skilled professionals to the industry.

The training centre, located in Basingstoke, was a comprehensive 3-week course in Busbar installation, electrical safety, and hands-on training. The course was designed to guarantee employment with a starting salary of £30,000 upon successful completion of two theoretical and one practical exam.

BMS Services took the initiative to provide opportunities for six young men, four of whom were previously on benefits, to attend the training program at a cost of £2800 per attendee. BMS work directly for leading manufacturers such as Schneider, Siemens, and Legrand, to provide the program.

Carol Sullivan, HR and Finance Director, says, “It is BMS Services’ goal to have this training program accredited by the CITB. Currently, there is no recognised training program for Busbar and Switchgear installations in the UK or worldwide, and the company is committed to filling this void and providing a much-needed service to the industry”.

The training centre will also have the capacity to offer bespoke training programs tailored to individual and company needs.

With the support of the busbar and switchgear manufacturers, the potential to train people from all over the world. We are confident this training centre will play a key role in addressing the labour shortage in the industry.

With many poor installations of Busbar systems, BMS Services is determined to provide excellent training to ensure professional, high-quality installations first time every time. Manufacturer Testimonials

Scott Povey – Course Attendee

The training course provided a unique opportunity to learn about Busbar and its importance in modern day construction.

With a fantastic balance of both classroom and practical sessions, this course provided a vast range in learning activities to suit all. The experience that the business had was mirrored in the program with amazing support from all staff throughout.

I think the biggest compliment is that having known very little about the products, the time BMS spent with me gave me the correct knowledge and confidence to be on site in a matter of week’s activity installing Busbar.

I look forward to providing help and insight to those who attend the future.

BMS Services is proud to announce the launch of its comprehensive new training course aimed at addressing the pressing labour shortage facing the industry. The course has been specifically designed for new engineers, providing them with a comprehensive A-Z training that covers all aspects of the installation process for busbar and switchgear.

The course is a crucial step towards ensuring that installations meet the manufacturers’ installation manual and the client’s satisfaction. With many failed installs in the industry resulting from companies looking for the cheapest installations, BMS Services’ new training course is a welcome development that guarantees quality and reliability.

Casey Few – Course Attendee

As a manager of 8 years who specialised in training, I have been thoroughly surprised and impressed by BMS’ training course.

They have operated with enough foresight to avoid the main problems incurred with training courses and delivered an amazing programme.

The course was concise, informative and thorough; I went from not even knowing what Busbar really was at the start to feeling like I can install with confidence after just 3 weeks.

Overall, I have been incredibly impressed with the BMS training programme and I look forward to seeing others taking advantage of the opportunity they are offering!

Legrand

A spokesperson from Legrand, who delivered a presentation for the course, says, “The UK construction market is suffering from a huge skills shortages across all platforms, causing delays to projects and risks to business owners, who want to deliver a good reliable service to their customers.

I was fortunate enough, to be invited to attend a Busbar training session with BMS, where they have taken the protective approach to start a busbar installation and commissioning training programme, investing in people from various backgrounds for the future of their business. This is a great programme, which more companies should embrace, to help close the skills shortage gap in the UK market”.

Busbar Solutions

I was personally delighted to receive an invitation to the training course that BMS were running and even more so when I was offered the opportunity to share a learning session with the course attendees and their instructor. The training that they had received prior to my joining had clearly been thorough and exhaustive. This meant we could focus in detail on specific aspects of the installation of Busbar systems as we as the possible problems and pitfalls that they might encounter in the field.

We concluded the session with a highly interactive Q&A session that demonstrated to me both interest in the process of Busbar installation and testing as well as the quality of the training that they were receiving.

Well done to BMS on this initiative, hopefully we will be invited back soon for the next course.

The 1st Busbar training course

This week marked the start of our 4 week in house busbar training course.

Looking to take on more engineers to meet demand, we advertised and also reached out to our local job centre to see if they had any potential candidates. After interviews we had 6 guys start the course this week (one missing in the pic).

So far we have seen great enthusiasm from all, while also learning about a product who few install and understand.

We see this as our long term investment in the company to keep delivering projects for our customers In the manor they have become accustomed to. We can only do that with skilled, reliable, hardworking people.

Onwards and upwards!

If you have a busbar or switchgear install job you would like to discuss, please do get in touch!

Applications for cast resin IP68 busbar systems

The original 1883 galleries of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours includes a theatre, banqueting hall restaurant and roof terraces.

However, below ground is a completely different story. Common to a lot of buildings in this area of Old London, this building constantly suffers from the ingress of water from underground streams and the water table.

To protect electrical supplies which are critical to maintaining the operation of the building; the main power is supplied by a 1600A Schneider busbar set in cast resin. This ensures the supply is maintained even when submersed in up to 1 meter of water AND as it is cast resin busbar, it is maintenance free.
