Electrical Project Manager

Job Description

As an electrical project manager you would be responsible for overseeing the installation and supply of Busbar and Switchgear systems. Day-to-day, you’d draw up schedules, allocate time, resource and budget, as well as manage staff to ensure work is completed on time, to a high standard.

The job role of an electrical project manager you could be:

  • Understanding what the client or company wants to achieve
  • Defining the technical requirements and feasibility of a project
  • Outlining timescales, costs and resources needed to design and deliver an electrical operations project
  • Making sure the work follows strict health and safety guidelines
  • Developing step-by-step project plans
  • Leading a multi-disciplinary project team
  • Negotiating with designers, engineers, contractors and suppliers
  • Liaising with staff at every level
  • Overseeing several projects at the same time
  • Ensuring each stage of the project happens on time, on budget and to a high standard
  • Sharing regular progress reports with the client and stakeholders
  • Resolving any issues or delays
  • Working in an office or onsite.

Order Management

  • Input jobs in Connecteam once commencement dates and milestones are known.
  • Resource Planning for labour requirement for each project.
  • Identify requirements and quantities for QR Codes

Contract Knowledge

  • Liaise with the terms of the contract to understand what to look for.
  • Support and liaise with the engineers on a day to day basis, phone calls, emails, WhatsApp.
  • Understand the costings on the project ensuring that the job is running profitably and within budget and raise a concern if over or near budget.
  • Understand if work outside of contract is being undertaken and ensure the site supervisor is completing paperwork. Report back to our client either for information purposes only or for applying extra costs to our contract.
  • If the project is ‘add and omit’ be aware of and update the final account value.
  • Keep account of the project programme and advise the contracts manager of any delays immediately.

Client Communication

  • Communication with the client ensuring the latest version drawings are available before work commences and they remain the latest as work is ongoing.
  • All communications with the client must be documented in writing and kept in the site file.
  • Site Survey’s
  • Where possible attend site to carry out surveys before projects start.
  • Ensure requirements for materials and equipment hire are identified during the site survey.
  • You are responsible for drafting RAMS. Review and update RAMS monthly when appropriate.
  • Communication with Projects & Site Team
  • Conduct regular reviews and planning sessions with the project team.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of the site supervisors and team leaders.
  • Work with supervisors to ensure all materials & plant required are ordered ahead of time and off hired when appropriate.
  • Follow up on reports from Site audit pro from supervisor to client.

Project Closure

  • Support in the production of the final report with photographs and test results.
  • Conduct formal Project Closure both internally and with the client

Position is part site work, part office

Your home location must be within 30 minutes of Basingstoke. Travel to the office is not paid

Busbar Installer

BMS Services Ltd in Basingstoke are recruiting men and women wishing to change career and pass and complete their 4 week training program.

We are one of five competitors in an industry which manufacturers over 2 billion a year in busbar and switchgear. There is currently no professional qualification with any governing body such as the NIC, CITB and JIB, but we are looking to change that. We are speaking with C&G and setting up an NVQ in busbar installations and you could be the first to obtain this new qualiuficaiton.

We are the first to offer a 3-week training program to give each potential installation engineer the training to learn H&S on construction, basic electrics, Channel training, Anchor install training, Asbestos training and many other courses along with practical training on all elements of installing busbar.

Course criteria is to have, studied and passed a health and safety course and Electrical and Environmental Safety course.

Once completed the theroy and pratical, we are guaranteeing employment.

We are looking for persons who

  • Hold a clean driving licence and have a car.
  • Live within 25 miles of Basingstoke.

Busbar Installer (12-24 month contract in Derby)

BMS Services Ltd in Basingstoke are recruiting construction operatives for a 12 month contract.

We are looking to recruit 5-10 operatives.

We are one of five competitors in an industry which manufacturers over 2 billion a year in busbar and switchgear. There is currently no professional qualification with any governing body such as the NIC, CITB and JIB, but we are looking to change that. We are speaking with C&G and setting up an NVQ in busbar installations and you could be the first to obtain this new qualiuficaiton.

We are offering a 3 week, full-time, training program to learn how to install one manufacturers bar, and offer a 12 month contract in Newport.

Must hold a clean driving license.
